Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 2 July 2026 | Applies to all PipeIQ accounts | ICO Registration: ZC164080
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out the rules governing use of the PipeIQ SMS outreach platform. By using PipeIQ you agree to comply with this AUP at all times. Violation may result in immediate account suspension without refund.
Permitted Uses
✓ What you MAY do
- Send SMS campaigns to opted-in contacts who have explicitly consented to receive marketing messages
- Contact existing customers (B2C) within 12 months of their last purchase or interaction
- Contact UK business contacts under legitimate interest (B2B), with a relevant commercial message
- Use personalisation tokens ([Name], [Company]) to improve message relevance
- Run A/B split tests across approved message variants
- Process opt-out (STOP) requests — these are mandatory and handled automatically by PipeIQ
Prohibited Uses
✗ Strictly prohibited — zero tolerance
- Phishing: Sending messages designed to deceive recipients into revealing personal data, credentials, or financial information
- Carrier spamming: Sending bulk unsolicited messages to purchased, scraped, or non-consented lists
- SMS spoofing: Misrepresenting the sender identity or impersonating another business, brand, or individual
- Illegal content: Promoting unlawful products or services, or content that violates UK law
- Harassment: Contacting individuals who have previously opted out or requested no further contact
- Volume abuse: Artificially creating multiple accounts to circumvent per-account sending limits
- Data scraping: Uploading contact lists obtained by automated scraping of websites or social media
- Financial fraud: Any message related to investment fraud, advance-fee scams, or mis-selling
- Malware distribution: Including links to malicious software or phishing websites
PECR Compliance Certification
On every contact list upload, the authorised user must certify that all contacts meet one of the following criteria:
- They have explicitly opted in to receive SMS marketing from the sending business
- They are an existing customer of the sending business who transacted within the last 12 months (soft opt-in, B2C)
- They are a business contact and the message is relevant to their business activities (legitimate interest, B2B)
This certification is recorded with your agency ID, a timestamp, and your IP address. False certification is a breach of this AUP and may constitute a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990.
Opt-Out Compliance
All messages sent via PipeIQ automatically include opt-out instructions. You must not:
- Remove or alter the opt-out instruction from any message
- Re-contact any individual who has replied STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, or any recognised opt-out keyword
- Attempt to circumvent the platform's stop-list mechanism
PipeIQ automatically enforces opt-outs at the platform level. Attempts to bypass this are logged and will trigger immediate account suspension.
Automated Abuse Detection
PipeIQ operates automated systems to detect abusive usage patterns including:
- More than 2 campaign dispatches within a 60-minute window (triggers account freeze)
- Abnormal opt-out or complaint rates
- Rapid API requests from a single IP address (rate limiting: 10 requests/minute)
- Repeated login failures (brute-force protection)
Accounts flagged by these systems are suspended immediately. Reinstatement requires written review by PipeIQ support.
Reporting Violations
If you suspect a PipeIQ account is being used in violation of this AUP, please report it to hello@pipeiq.co.uk. We investigate all reports and will act within 24 hours on credible complaints.
Consequences of Violation
- Immediate suspension of sending capability
- Account termination without refund
- Reporting to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) where required by law
- Civil or criminal referral where fraud or illegal activity is identified
